There are good days and there are bad days. There are paintings that you struggle more with while others seem to finish themselves.
When you make art it's easy to compare yourself to others and find unrealistic metrics to judge yourself by. It's always important at the end of the day to have faith in your own worth, your own skills, and know that your art might be liked by some, but certainly not by everyone.
Having others compliment your work is a bonus, and I was fortunate to receive one of those bonuses this past week. I won an Award of Merit in the 2022 Arizona Pastel Artists Association's Open International Exhibition. It feels good to have other artists acknowledge your work.
